March Madness Contest Winners

March Madness 2018 is officially in the books. In the Final Four and championship game we were left with little drama, unlike a lot of the tournament’s previous rounds.
Loyola-Chicago looked like they might continue their Cinderella story for about 30 minutes against Michigan. They led the Wolverines by 10, but Michigan clamped down defensively and pulled out the win to punch their ticket to the title game.
In the second final four game Villanova put on a shooting clinic against Kansas. The Wildcats broke the record for most threes made in a final four game (the previous record was set by UNLV against IU in a game the Hoosiers won in 1987). They hit 18 threes and shot 45 percent from deep to blow the Jayhawks out of the gym 95-79.
Come the championship on Monday night, the Wildcats didn’t shoot lights out like they did in the previous game but it didn’t matter as sixth man Donte DiVincezo came off the bench to lead the game with 31 points. Michigan just didn’t have an answer and couldn’t get the offense on track for a long enough time in the second half to make a dent in the Villanova lead, giving Jay Wright’s Wildcats their second national title in three years.
Now on to The Leader bracket contest.
The winner this year is Gary Huff. He correctly picked the Wildcats to win the title. He had Virginia as the runner-up, but having three of the four teams in the final four helped his cause.
In second place is Ryan Bundy. He also had the Wildcats winning, and had Michigan as the runner-up.
In third place is Linda Scott, who again had Villanova cutting down the nets. Although she had Kansas State making the championship game, she had the other three finalists right to clinch her spot in the top three. Congratulations to the top three finishers. Narrowly missing out on the top three was Bob Lewandowski. The Wildcats were winners in his bracket, but he missed on two of the final four teams, including the runner-up, with Virginia.
