Horseshoes - social distancing approved

Salem Horseshoe League plans Independence Day Pitch

The Salem Horseshoe League traditionally officiates the Pekin 4th of July pitch. Due to the need for social distancing, this year, the event will be held at the Washington County Fairgrounds on Sunday, July 5. The Independence Day Pitch will start at 1 p.m. with the singles tournament, followed by a random draw doubles pitch.

The Salem Horseshoe League will start 10 weeks of league play on July 9. Sign up will be July 2, 6 p.m. at the Washington County Fairgrounds. The league follows American Horseshoe Pitchers Association count-all rules. Two-man teams compete every Thursday evening in a three game handicapped competition.

Both novice and seasoned throwers are welcome. Horseshoes is a safe distancing sport with national competition venue possibilities.
