Busy Weekend for County Basketball Teams
The Lady Lions bench celebrates a late basket in their win over MSC and sectional foe Silver Creek.
Many of the county basketball teams were in action on Saturday. The Lady Lions played an early afternoon road game against fellow 3A top ten team Silver Creek for an MSC shoedown. Salem maintained a lead for all but 30 seconds of the game as they pulled off the 48-44 win. The Salem boys traveled to Crawford County on Saturday evening looking to build off their win over Orleans on Friday night but fell to the Wolfpack 76-65.
Eastern boys battled Austin tough in the first half but fell to the Eagles 69-42.
West Washington hosted a boys and girls double header with Edinburgh. The Lady Senators fought but came up just short of knocking off the Lancers 71-68. In the follow up the Senators got out to a comfortable lead before holding off a late rally by Edinburgh to get the 54-48 win.
