Brown Out at Salem

At the Salem school board meeting on Monday night, the board voted unanimously 6-0 not to renew the contract of Varsity Boys basketball coach Mike Brown. The motion was made by Mark “Bubba” Abbott and was seconded by Erika Garloch. “With any extra curricular activity we have the ability to change those at any time,” Abbott said. “There have been some discussion and we feel like we want to go another direction at this time.” 

Superintendent Jon Acton said he was planning to meet with high school principal Troy Albert and athletic director Hank Weedin on Tuesday to discuss the plan to replace Brown. 

“The quicker we can move on this the better,” he said.
