Ables continues softball career

West Washington senior Gracie Ables was devastated like everyone else last season when she found out her junior year of softball was canceled because of the COVID-19 Pandemic. She was concerned about how losing a year of a sport would affect her chances to continue to play at the next level.

“It was one of the worst feelings ever to lose my junior season,” Ables said. “After going to semi-state the year before, and not losing anyone off the team, we all knew we had potential to make it back that far, if not further.”

However, none of that mattered, because last month Ables signed a letter of intent to play softball at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College. The college, often called St. Mary’s, is an unincorporated community in Sugar Creek Township in northwestern Vigo County.
