County school board filings are open

Filing will officially close for county school board seats on Aug. 24 at noon.

West Washington has four seats up for election: Brown Township, Howard Township, Town of Campbellsburg and one at-large seat. 

Tim Barksdale has filed to keep his at-large seat on the West Washington Board. Incumbent Doug Brown also entered the race and will face Adam Brown for the Brown Township seat. Forrest “Joe” Walker, Jr. filed for Howard Township and Claude Combs for the Town of Campbellsburg seat.

Jeff Johnson has filed for Salem School Board. He joins Rodney Brough, who filed last week. There are three at-large seats open for the November election for the Salem board.

East Washington school district also has three seats to fill: Franklin Township, Jackson Township and Pierce Township. 

Christina McGinnis has filed for East Washington School Board for Pierce Township. She joins Theresa Gottbrath and Linda McClellan, who have both filed to keep their current seats. Gottbrath has filed for Jackson Township and McClellan for Franklin.

Paperwork may be picked up at the office at the Washington County Justice Center on Jackson Street.

As a reminder, voters can call and request an absentee application to be mailed to them for the 2018 General. Completed applications will be received and held until Oct. 10. At that point, official 2018 General absentee ballots will be mailed out.
