UPDATE: Police respond to Sunday motorcycle accident

The Washington County Sheriff’s Department received a report of a single motorcycle crash Sunday afternoon, July 8, around 6:47 p.m., near 7975 Hurst Road. The driver, Michael Drane, 44, Pekin, was air lifted to University of Louisville Hospital, while a passenger, Elizabeth Sievert, 37, Louisville, Kentucky, was transported by ground ambulance to University of Louisville Hospital.

Sievert advised officers that they were traveling west on Hurst Road, on a 2013 Harley Davisson, when Drane lost control of the motorcycle, while navigating through a right-hand turn. Sievert further advised she thought loose debris on the roadway caused Drane to lose control of the motorcycle.

Deputy Tory Hildreth is investigating the crash and was assisted by Conservation Officer Neal Brewington, members of the Pierce/Polk Volunteer Fire Department and the Washington County Ambulance Service.
