Just after 2 p.m. Friday, emergency personnel were dispatched to the scene of a one-vehicle wreck near the intersection of Mulberry Street and Spring Grove Avenue.

Officer Natalie Boling said the driver, Anthony Datillo, 22, Fort Huachuca, Arizona, was in a state of shock, shaking on the ground in a nearby yard when she arrived. The vehicle, a silver Volkswagon Jetta, was wrecked against a broken utility pole and there were power lines in the road.

Boling said Datillo told her she was on a new medication for Post Traumatic Stress and he didn’t remember the accident. He said he was traveling west on Mulberry Street and blacked out, waking up when he struck the utility pole. Datillo said he believed the new medication caused him to pass out. Datillo was medically cleared at the scene by EMS.

Traffic was impeded on that road for a few hours while Duke workers handled the downed power lines.
