UPDATE: Inmate found dead at Washington County Jail identified

John M. Westfall, 54, Salem, was booked into the Washington County Jail at 11:21 p.m. on Wednesday, May 29. He was found dead by a jailer on Friday.

An autopsy revealed the cause to be severe cardiomyopathy, a type of heart disease generally causing the heart muscle to become enlarged, thick or rigid.
