Jamie Dickey, 39, Salem, was arrested for battery resulting in bodily injury in the early morning hours of Thursday, Jan. 3.

Indiana State Troopers Dustin Whitaker and Eric Powers and Deputy Tory Hildreth arrived at 1000 Aspen Dr., where Trenton Lee Brittingham came out of the building and told the officers his girlfriend attacked another tenant. While the officers were speaking to him, Dickey, staggered out of the apartment, appearing visibly upset, according to Whitaker’s report. He said she stumbled around in circles, slurring her words and wasn’t able to focus on what was going on.

Hildreth remained outside with Dickey while Whitaker went inside to speak with the victim, Summer Kirby. The entire left side of Kirby’s face was red and her left eye was bloodshot and watery. She also had a scratch on her left arm.

Kirby said she and her boyfriend, Kristoffer Wall, heard yelling across the halland walked over to investigate. She said she saw her neighbor being pushed by a Dickey, who then directed her attention to Kirby, walking into her apartment and punching her in the face several times and scratching her left arm. Kirby said she defended herself to get Dickey off of her and away.

Brittingham said he and Dickey had been arguing in Walmart over a purse and the argument continued during the drive home and once the arrived at the apartment. When Brittingham said he’d had enough and wanted to leave for the night, he said Dickey grabbed him and wouldn’t let him leave. That’s when Kirby and Wall opened the door and Dickey turned on them and started yelling and fighting.

The officers arrested Dickey, who Whitaker said remained belligerent at the jail and slurring her words. She was charged with battery resulting in bodily injury. As of 4 p.m. Friday, she remains incarcerated on a $1,000 bond.
