Dustin Brading, 32, Pekin, was arrested Sunday March 15, following an altercation with his young daughter.

Deputies Kacey Reschar, Abby Powers and Reserve Deputy Dan Libka, were dispatched to an apartment on East Karnes Court following a call from a “hysterical” girl, who told dispatchers she had been choked by her father. Dispatchers said they could hear screaming coming from the caller over the phone.

Reschar said he knocked on the door when they arrived, and announced who they were. Brading responded angrily, telling them to quit “beating on my f****** door.” Powers knocked and ordered him to open the door. Brading opened the door slightly, but refused to open further. Due to the nature of the call, Reschar pushed the door the rest of the way open, but Brading stepped into the doorway and blocked it with his body. Reschar said in his report the officers eventually assisted Brading from the doorway to the couch and placed him in handcuffs.

Powers spoke with the young girl, then returned to tell Reschar to take Brading out of the home and that he was being placed under arrest.

Reschar asked the girl to fill out a voluntary statement and battery affidavit. In those documents, the girl said she and her father had argued previously, leading her to call him “a stupid and ignorant father,” which resulted in him grabbing her neck and pulling her hair before he threw her into her bedroom. She said her father called her an “attention w***” and a “selfish little b****.” She said her father had been speaking badly of her grandmother in front of her younger brother. She said she tried to get Brading to stop, but the situation escalated.

Her brother told officers he was in the living room when his father and sister were arguing. He asked them to stop, then he got scared and left the room.

Brading’s mother has full custody of the children and she came to the home and took the children away with her.

Brading was preliminarily charged with domestic battery committed against a child younger than 14.
