Clarksville man arrested for 13 charges in Salem Wednesday

Richard Harold Turner, 37, Clarksville, was booked at the Washington County Detention Center just before 2 a.m. on Wednesday morning.

Around 10:30 p.m. the evening before, Deputy Brad Naugle saw a motorcycle make a left turn from West Market Street onto North Harrison Street without signaling a turn and without a license plate. He attempted to stop the motorcycle and its driver, Turner, but the driver refused to stop. After a short pursuit, the driver attempted to lose Naugle by traveling through a yard on West Market Street and lost control.

Turner was taken into custody and transported by ambulance to St. Vincent-Salem Hospital, where he was treated and released.

Further investigation showed the motorcycle was stolen out of Louisville on April 7. Not only that, but Turner had an outstanding warrant out of Clark County.

He was charged with the following: trafficking with an inmate (article is a controlled substance, deadly weapon, cell phone or other wireless/cellular communication device), receiving stolen auto parts, possession of a Schedule I through IV controlled substance (enhancing circumstances applies), criminal recklessness while armed with a deadly weapon, operating a motor vehicle without financial responsibility with a prior conviction, operating while intoxicated per se, operating a vehicle while intoxicated and endangering a person, possession of a syringe, carrying a handgun without a license, possession of methamphetamine (less than 5 grams and enhancing circumstances applies), reckless driving, resisting law enforcement (using a vehicle to flee), theft (at least $750 but less than $50,000 value or the property is a firearm or having a prior theft or criminal conversion conviction), carrying a handgun without a license.
