East Washington School Corp. has hired Gary Pennington who currently works at the Sheriff's department, as the School Resource Officer. 

Carl Fromelius was awarded a special plaque in recognition of his 40th consecutive Fourth of July parade appearance. Carl and his wife, Barbara, have been a mainstay in the parade, motoring along the route in their 1958 Mercury Monteray.

Staff Sergeant Kelsey S. Collard, a 38th Infantry Division military police officer from Pekin, re-enlisted in the Indiana National Guard while deployed in the Middle East to support Task Force Spartan.

Katelynn Miller, watershed coordinator of the South Fork-Blue River Watershed, organized a community clean-up in Pekin. A total of 240 pounds of trash was collected.

Four Eastern High School cheerleaders named All-Americans have the opportunity to go perform in London, England, because of their skills and passion for the sport. They are: Madison Fluhr, Katlyn Rice, Zoey Stamey and Hadley Sprinkle.

Radius Indiana has named Keeley Stingel vice president of talent attraction and retention.
