Willis Charles
Greenville: Willis M. Charles, age 84, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 4, 2018 at Clark Memorial Hospital, surrounded by family and friends.
Willis was born on May 17, 1934 to Marion and Geneva (Payne) Charles in Pekin, IN. He was retired from Silgas, Inc. where he was employed for 35 years and later served as co-owner. Willis was the Director and Vice President of the Paul Ogle Foundation. He enjoyed wine making, entertaining, socializing, traveling, and he was an avid knife and gun collector. He attended Indian Creek Baptist Church of Georgetown and was a member of the Greenville Masonic Lodge #416 Scottish Rights 32nd Degree.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Shirley (Hendrich) Charles, a son, Sean Paul Charles, his parents; Marion Charles and Geneva F. Cornwell, a step-father, Robert Cornwell, sister, Helen Hoggatt, and brother, Arthur Charles.
He is survived by his daughter, Mary Sue Moore, sister, Lois Harris, and a beloved friend, Arden McKim.
Funeral service will be held at Love Funeral Home on Friday, June 8, 2018 at 11 a.m. Visitation will be on Thursday, June 7, 2018 from 2-8 p.m. and again on Friday from 9 a.m. until time of service. Burial will follow at Palmyra Cemetery.
