Signa Chaskel

Signa Chaskel, 87, of Findlay, Ohio died on Monday, October 30, 2017 at Birchaven Village in Findlay, Ohio.  She was born on July 29, 2930 in Salem to the late Claude W. Sr. Shields and Hazel (Tatlock) Shields.  She was married to James Chaskel, who is deceased.

Signa was a 1946 graduate of Salem High School.  She graduated as a registered nurse from Speers Memorial Hospital in Dayton, Kentucky in 1951.  She attended the University of Findlay for one year.  She originally worked in Cincinnati, Ohio and then retired as a supervisor of registered nurses at Blanchard Valley Hospital after 18 years.  Signa worked for a period of time for Washington County Memorial Hospital, Salem, and later worked at Jewish hospital in Louisville, Kentucky.

She was a member of Speers Nurse Alumni as well as the American legion Auxiliary and the VFW Auxiliary in Mason, ohio.  She was a member of Pandora Methodist Church.

Signa is survived by sons Conrad D. (Renee) Chaskel and Rodney F. (Kathy) Chaskel, both of Findley, Ohio; daughters Chris Chaskel Daniels of Findlay, Ohio and H. Catherine (Dallas 'Pete') Cummings of Hudson, Ohio; brother, Russell Shields of Salem; 9 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Preceding her in death are brothers Claude Shields, Jr. and Norman Shields and sisters, Estella Woodsmall and Ellen Bidgood.

Services were held in Findlay in November with interment in Benton Ridge Cemetery in Ohio.
