Mildred Puglise

Mrs. Mildred Ilene Puglise, 96, of Frederick, Maryland, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2018, at Homewood at Crumland Farms. She was the loving wife of the late Frank John Puglise, who died on January 29, 2000. Born on Aug. 4, 1922, near Rock Island, Illinois to the late Lewis and Beulah Bundy Gordon.

Mildred had been a resident at Homewood since 2007. Prior to Homewood, she lived many years with her husband at Crestwood Village and Brooklawn.

Mildred graduated from Salem High School in 1940. She then moved to Indianapolis, where she worked for RCA and P.R. Mallary Radio Factories during World War II. She went to work at Fort Benjamin Harrison in 1951 then transferred to Fort Myers, Virginia, in 1954. She retired from the Justice Department in Washington, D.C., after 30 years of federal government service.

She was a longtime member of the Trinity United Methodist Church and a member of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association, Chapter 409, both in Frederick, Maryland.

Surviving is one sister, Rosemary Carter of Salem; one sister-in-law, Gloria Gordon of Campbellsburg; her step-daughter, Elaine Puglise Wenzel of Florida and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Virginia E. Nichols, and brother, Donivan W. Gordon.

Memorial services were held on Friday, Jan. 4, at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Frederick, Maryland.
