Max Huckleberry

Max Huckleberry, 93, Scottsburg, died on January 5, 2020, at Louisville.

Born July 6, 1926, in Washington County, he was the son of Roscoe Huckleberry  and Gladys L. Rutherford Huckleberry.  A graduate of Little York High School, he was a member of Little York Methodist Church and American Legion.

He was married 50 years to Helen Thompson Huckleberry, before her death on September 25,1998.

Max served in the U. S. Army during WWII. He retired from Cummins, Arvins, Holm Industries and was previously employed at Morgan’s. He also ran a logging business.

Suvivors include three sons: David L. (Jo Ella) Huckleberry, Larry R. (Mona) Huckleberry, and Chris (Patricia) Huckleberry; a sister: Lois Fawbush; nine grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; and companion: Shirley Blankenbaker.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Helen; and a sister, Linda Lou McCammeron.

Visitation is Wednesday, from 9 a.m. to time of service at 11 a.m. at Stewart & Hoagland Funeral Home in Scottsburg. Burial will follow at Scottsburg Cemetery. Military graveside service by American Legion Post 234 will be held.
