Mary Durbin Smith

Mary M. (Durbin) Smith, age 81, passed away Monday evening, October 1, 2018 at her home in Nineveh.

She was born July 8, 1937 in Indianapolis to her parents, the late David A. and Dorothy R. (Ragsdale) Durbin. Mary was a 1956 graduate of Salem Washington Township High School. She married Raymond C. Smith Jr. on December 25, 1967 in Washington County, Indiana.  He preceded her in death on December 5, 2003 after 35 loving years of marriage.

Mary was also preceded in death by siblings, Paul, George and Leslie Durbin, Dorothy Davidson; and one great grandson.

Mary is survived by her step children, Rhonda (Ron) Cutter of Indianapolis, Randy (Julie) Smith of Trafalgar, Mel (Wanda) Smith of Trafalgar, Kimberly Williams of Arizona, Mark Smith of Spencer,   Kevin (Tammy) Smith of Gentryville and Cory (Kelly) Smith of Evansville; caregiver, Rebekah (Stephen) Brosman of Scottsburg; 17 grandchildren; several great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

She was a loving homemaker who enjoyed crocheting and needle stitching. Mary enjoyed feeding the birds, the deer and caring for her dog, Sarah. She was a member of the Nineveh Order of the Eastern Star, Saturday Night mixed league bowling in Greenwood and the Silver Streaker Bowlers in Franklin. She also was a member of the Atterbury Horseshoe League and the Johnson County Horseshoe League.

The Rev. Burt Brock will conduct a funeral service on Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until service time on Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood. The Nineveh Order of the Eastern Star will conduct a memorial service prior to the funeral service on Tuesday.
