Martha Jean Trueblood

Mrs. Martha Jean Trueblood age 88 of Salem passed away Sunday, June 10 at Meadow View Health & Rehabilitation Center.

Mrs. Trueblood was born July 3, 1929 in Salem the daughter of Albert and Nora Cartwright Elrod. She married Eugene Trueblood on March 28, 1948, he preceded her in death on May 14, 2008.

 Martha was a 1947 graduate of Salem High School. She worked at the Washington County Assessor’s and Treasurer’s Offices from 1973 to 2008. She was a member of Blue River Baptist Church and attended Blue River Friends Church. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, hosting family dinners, and many different crafts.

She is survived by two sons: Stephen E. Trueblood (Rita) and Tony L. Trueblood (Debbie) both of Salem, three daughters: Susan E. Bills (Randall), Sarah A. Robbins (Gary) both of Salem, and Terri L. McCord (Bill) of Prospect, Kentucky, three brothers: Robert Elrod of Henryville, Jerry Elrod of Sellersburg, and Joe Elrod of Salem, eleven grandchildren: Michael Trueblood, Darren Trueblood, Tracy Tillett, Jeremy Robbins, Isaiah Robbins, Travis Trueblood, Tia Trueblood, Laura Batt, Nathan Bills, Tyler Ness, and Amanda Bills, 20 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11:00 A.M. at Weathers Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Blue River Friends Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8PM Tuesday and Wednesday from 9AM-until time of service at the funeral home.
