King Blakley

King H. Blakley, 92, Sellersburg, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at his home.

He was born on August 13, 1926 to the late Joseph and Annie Blakley (Short) in Indianapolis, Indiana. Mr. Blakley honorably served his country in the United States Army. He retired from the Colgate Palmolive Plant in Jeffersonville, Indiana after 38 years of employment. Mr. Blakley was a member of the Willie’s Chapel in Memphis and a former member of the American Legion Post 204. Mr. Blakley thoroughly enjoyed fishing, archery and trips to the Horse Shoe Casino.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Margaret Jean Blakley, by his sisters, Bonnie Smith, Irene Dismore and by his brothers, Walter, Clarence, Alton, William and Henry Blakley.
 
Survivors include his son, Joseph Blakley of Pekin, his stepson, Morris Lanham, his daughters, Sharon Shopher (Michael) of Salem and Geraldine Adkins of Pekin. Mr. Blakley also leaves behind 13 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren and 36 great-great-grandchildren.
 
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at the Garr Funeral Home in Sellersburg with interment to follow at Sellersburg Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday from 12:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and on Saturday from 12:00 P.M. until the time of the Service at the funeral home.
