Kathleen Olive Sheckells

Kathleen Olive Sheckells, 92, of Leavenworth, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 13, 2020, at her home in Leavenworth, surrounded by her loving family. 

She was born December 28, 1927, in Birdseye, Indiana, to the late Lawson and Elsie Pfaff Buford.  In her younger years, Kathleen loved being a waitress at the Royal Blue Cafeteria in English, Indiana, where the owners often joked with her that they were going to adopt her.  She lovingly crocheted items for her family and was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandma.  Kathleen was a member and Sunday school teacher at Holy Mount Church near Alton, Indiana.  She loved the Lord and was dedicated to raising her family in the church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dennis Vernon Sheckells; her sons-in-law, Cletus Cash and Gary Lee Miller; her daughter-in-law, Janice Sheckells; and her sisters, Phyllis Pierce, Hazel Lindsey and Norma June Buford.

Survivors include her sons, Michael Sheckells (Sharon) of English and Dennis V. Sheckells, Jr. (Tammy) of Leavenworth; her daughters, Yvonne Miller of Springfield, Ohio and Judith Cash of Leavenworth; her brother, Gerald Ray Buford of Ranson, West Virginia; her sister, Wanda Gayle Buford of English; 17 grandchildren; and many great and great great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 16, 2020, at Holy Mount Church near Alton.  Pastor Marvin Culver will officiate.  Burial will in Holy Mount Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon and after 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the church.

Pallbearers will be Jamie, Adam and Billy Sheckells, Kevin and Gary Lee Miller, and Bennie and James Cash.
