Jan Gayle McCarty King

Jan Gayle McCarty King, 72, of Madison, died on Saturday, July 18, 2020, at 11:20 p.m. at her home with her loving family at her side in Madison. 

Jan entered this life on Sept. 29, 1947, in Elwood, She was the loving daughter of the late Don Dennis and Wilma Louise Stoops McCarty. She was raised in North Vernon, and graduated there in 1965. Jan then attended Spencerian Business College and then Ivy Tech College receiving her LPN. 

On June 16, 1968, Jan was united in marriage to Kenneth K. King, Jr. in North Vernon. This happy union of 52 years was blessed with a daughter, Julie and a son, Daniel. The family resided in Columbus for 35 years where Jan worked as a LPN at Columbus Regional Hospital. They were faithful members of the 25th Street Congregation in Columbus. 

After retirement, Jan and Ken moved to Madison, in 1999. They became members of the North Madison Church of Christ. Jan was very active in her church, teaching Sunday school and dearly loved caring for her grandchildren. She was a loving wife, devoted mother, grandma and sister. 

A LOVING FAMILY 

Jan will be missed by her loving husband of 52 years, Kenneth K. King, Jr. of Madison; her loving daughter, Julie Cook and her husband, Kelly, of New Salisbury, Indiana; her loving son, Daniel King and his wife Kelly Jean, of Olive Branch, Mississippi; her beloved grandchildren, James, Ben, Libby, Kaden, Julianne, and Burkley; her brothers, Mark McCarty and his wife, Debbie of Clarksville,  Chris McCarty and his wife, Charlotte of New Albany, Mike McCarty and his wife, Becky of New Albany, Kent McCarty of Clarksville; her sister, Kay McCarty of Madison; her sisters-in-law, Mary Burns of Salem, Carol Chenier of Clinton, Missouri; her brother-in-law, Bill King and his wife, Lygia of Burleson, Texas; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. 

She was preceded in death by her father, Don Dennis McCarty, her mother, Wilma Louise Stoops McCarty, her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Dorothy June Walton and John King. 

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, July 25, 2020, at 11 a.m., by Bro. Gerry Sandusky at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana. Interment will follow in the Fairmount Cemetery in Madison. Friends may visit Friday, from 4 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
