James H. Young

Mr. James H. Young age 88 of Salem passed away, Wednesday in Scottsburg.

Mr. Young was born August 1, 1930 in Cass County, Indiana the son of Leroy and Sarah Ann Buchanan Young. He was a Korean War Marine veteran. He was a member of the Salem High St. Church of Christ, and a retired Rural Letter Carrier.

James is preceded in death by his wife of 49 years: Barbara Ragains Young.  He then married Della Crotty Reese Young and she also preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by four brothers: Joseph Virgil Young, Lawrence Buchanan Young, Richard Harold Young, and Herbert Young, three sisters: Lucile Burns, Grace Kesser, and Mary Louise Webb, one grandson: Andy Hamer, and his parents.

He is survived by his children: John Young (Karen), Ruth Gilbert (Lester), Philip Young (Cindy), Michelle Hamer (Rick), and Rose Anderson (Tim) all of Salem, one sister: Gertrude Stephenson of Salem, two sisters-in-law: Martha Young of Logansport, and Ethel Ragains of Salem, 11 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:00 A.M. at Weathers Funeral Home.  Burial will follow in Kays Chapel Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be Friday from 4-8PM and Saturday from 9AM-until time of service at the funeral home.
