Helen Chastain

Mrs. Helen A. Chastain, age 82, of Salem, passed away Wednesday, September 9 at Salem Crossing.

Mrs. Chastain was born August 17, 1938 in Campbellsburg, Indiana the daughter of Everrett and Wilma Hedrick Qualkinbush. She was a member of Westview Christian Church, Phi Beta Psi Sorority, and the Red Hat Society. She was a former teacher’s aide at Brady Shrum Elementary.

She is preceded in death by her husband: Lee E. Chastain they were married June 1, 1958. She is also preceded in death by a brother: Don Qualkinbush. Helen is survived by two sons: Brian Chastain (Stacy) of Le Roy, Illinois, and Kevin Chastain (Sue) of Salem, a daughter: Tracy Nicholson (Lee) of Salem, two sister-in-laws: Sara Jane Bennett (Ron) of Muscatine, Iowa, and Karen Qualkinbush of Salem, 6 grandchildren: Paul Chastain (Aaren), Olivia Chastain, Kelsie Nicholson, Joe Chastain (Jess), Matt Chastain, and Dan Chastain, two step-grandchildren: Jared Nicholson and Travis Nicholson (Kayla), and two great-grandchildren: Nolan Chastain and Bronn Chastain.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 12 at 11:00AM at Westview Christian Church. Burial will follow in Hop Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 4-8PM at Weathers Funeral Home, and Saturday from 9AM-until time of service at the church.
