Edward Harold Hinkebein, III

Edward “Ed” Harold Hinkebein III, age 69, of Greenville passed away on Sunday June 30th, 2019 at Baptist – Floyd Hospital. Ed was born on December 19th, 1949 in Louisville KY, the son of Edward Harold Hinkebein Jr. and Georgine Rose (Rhodes) Hinkebein.

He was raised in Louisville and graduated from Trinity High School. He was a retired Commercial Heating, Air, and Refrigeration Technician Professional. He was well known over the commonwealth of Kentucky during his 60 years of dedicated service. Ed worked throughout the country taking care of businesses during his career. Ed was considered a master of his trade.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother George Douglas Hinkebein.

He is survived by two brothers: Joseph Anthony Hinkebein and William Frederick Hinkebein (Tina); three sisters: Gerdette Givan (Greg), Gertrude Clara Kiefer (Tom), and Mary Margaret Schweiger (Mark); and four children: David Gerard Hinkebein, Jeffery Allen Hinkebein, Sarah Elizabeth Rufing (Troy), Kimberly Noel Daily (Travis); ten grandchildren: Phallicia Joe Hinkebein, Jacquelyn Dawn Hinkebein, Hannah Grace Rufing, Matthew Ashton Rufing, Sophia Noel Rufing, Samuel Mason Rufing, Catherine Elizabeth Rufing, Clover Nichole Rufing, Owen Everett Daily, Amelia Noel Daily, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Most importantly, he was loved by all of his family and friends, as well as others he touched. Ed had a kind and loving soul, and also had the ability to be a leader to his siblings and is treasured by them for the love and guidance he gave.

A private service will be held by the family. In life, Ed’s charity of choice was St. Joseph’s Indian Mission. Any memorial contributions may be donated to them at 1301 N Main St., Chamberlain, SD 57325.
