Dora Jane Ray, age 72 of Salem, passed away Monday, July 27, 2020 in Lake Pointe Village at Scottsburg, Indiana.

Born March 25, 1948 in Millstone, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Archie C. Sergent Sr. and Sola Gertrude (Cook) Sergent.

She was a retired court reporter and legal secretary and worked for Judge Robert Bennett and the Clark County Circuit Court.

Dora was a member of the Faith Southern Baptist Church, had been a resident of Washington County since 1963, formerly of Fayetteville, Indiana and was a   graduate of Bryant & Stratton Business College.

On October, 29, 1966 she married William "Bill" Ray, who passed away September 7, 2007.

Survivors include:  Son: Lawrence (Angela) Ray of Scottsburg;  Daughter: Stacy Ray of Salem;  2 Sisters: Janet Flynn of Charlestown and Janice Costantine of Brandenburg, Kentucky;  Brother: Harold E. Sergent of Moses Lake, Washington and 3 Grandchildren: Trenton, Kaytlin and Covin Ray.

She was preceded in death by 2 sisters: Thelma G. Lundy and Virginia Lapioli and 2 brothers: Archie C. Sergent Jr. and Bennie Sergent.

Funeral Service: 11:00 am Friday at Dawalt Funeral Home followed by interment in Crown Hill Cemetery.
Visitation: 4 to 8 pm Thursday and 9 am until the time of the service on Friday.
Due to Indiana Mandate, face masks are required while on the premises and social distancing is recommended.
