Del "Bug Man" Nicholson

Del "Bug Man" Nicholson, 61, of Austin, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at the University of Louisville Hospital from injuries he sustained in an automobile accident. He was born on March 1, 1957 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, the son of the late Ernest Nicholson and Anna Marie (Mikesell) Nicholson. Del was the former owner and operator of the old Arab/Mr. Pest Control Company in Scottsburg, Indiana for 22 years. He was a member of the New Providence Baptist Church and served his country during the Vietnam Era in the U.S. Navy. Del was a former member of the Scottsburg Kiwanis Club and the Moose Family Center 2324. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time outdoors. Del was an avid knife collector, liked trying different foods and listening to music, especially classic Rock and Roll. He was preceded in death by his parents and eight siblings, Dwayne, John, Gene, James, Betty, Ellen, Margie and Dorothy. Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Ruby (Wright) Nicholson; two sons, Derek Nicholson and his wife Carey of Scottsburg, Indiana and Daniel Nicholson of Austin, Indiana; two adopted sons, Jason Howard of Seymour, Indiana and Devin Collins of Scottsburg, Indiana; three brothers, Dwight Nicholson of Arkansas, Charles "Chuck" Burnett of Utah and Frank Nicholson of New Albany, Indiana; two sisters, Darlena Halstead of Utah and Doris Heeke of New Albany, Indiana and one cherished grandson, Malachi Jordan Nicholson. A Celebration of Del's Life will be held from 4:30 to 8 PM on Sunday, February 10, 2019 at Collins Funeral Home.
