Clyde Edward “Eddie” Nichols

Clyde Edward “Eddie” Nichols, 60, Salem, rejoined his mom, dad, sister and dogs (Suzy, Bobby and Ruffles) in the warm embrace of God on Feb. 6, 2020.

While 60 years old in body, Eddie always had the soul of a grumpy old man. That grumpiness was known by those closest to him to be ruse as he’d secretly give you the shirt off his back and his last $20 if you needed a meal. A perpetual wheeler and dealer, Eddie worked much of his life in management and sales. Although his true usual occupation, as many friends know despite its use being prohibited on the death certificate, was shooting the $h*t.

Eddie’s too-soon homegoing will be felt deeply by his family. His wife Jennifer Nichols, Salem; his sister Annette Nichols, Salem; their children, Jessica Maudlin and John Phelps, Jeffersonville, Jill Cole, Salem, Joan Maudlin, Martinsburg, grandchildren Ribus and Lillianna, a half dozen foster grandbabies and his favorite four-legged child, Molly, remain to remember his legacy, which is comprised, by and large, of fart jokes, camo hats and trips to see a man about a goat. He also will be missed by many aunts, uncle and cousins.

His father and mother, (Clyde Jr. and Mary) and his sister (Elaine) preceded him in departing this earth and have readily welcomed him home.

Many friends and fellow competitive shooters will also miss his big a$$ guns and smart a$$ mouth.

Eddie’s memory will be celebrated on Saturday, Feb. 22, from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. as we offer thanks for Eddie’s life through prayer, music and memories at a pitch-in meal at Cornerstone Hall, located at 1500 E. R. C. Morris Dr., in Salem. In addition to bringing a dish to share, Jennifer and Annette would love for you to bring copies of any photos or stories about Eddie to leave with them.

(You can also turn in any IOUs you might be holding at that time.)

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to your local Humane Society or to the Go Fund Me page set up for Jennifer and Eddie.
