Cecil lived a life full of music, art, friends and family. He loved and appreciated all genres of music but his love for classic country music lead him to become a local radio host for his own show, Cumberland Country, at WCHQ and also brought him to have a wonderful relationship with WHAS11 Great Day Live where he became a regular on the show promoting local musicians and events in the area. Cecil helped plan, organize, perform and emcee many benefits, tributes, festivals and shows that include 2014 David Allan Coe Benefit, Louisville Townes Van Zandt Tribute, Bob Dylan Tribute, Kentucky Bluegrass & Bourbon Experience, Last Honkytonk Music Series, Louisville Music Award and Kentucky Homefront. Cecil was truly proud of his personal projects, The Louisville Merle Haggard Tribute and The Louisville Accord Project. Cecil’s artwork is displayed in Panama City, Florida where he painted a dolphin for The Dolphin Splash and cow for The Mad Cow Parade in Atlanta, Georgia.

Cecil's greatest accomplishment was finishing the program at The Men's Healing Place. While at The Healing Place Cecil became part of Celebrate Recovery as a program leader at Fairdale Christian Church. The Healing Place, AA, Celebrate Recovery, the people that supported him throughout but most importantly, God’s love and grace, is what he said kept him sober and also able to handle the terminal illness of pancreatic cancer.

A visitation to celebrate Cecil will be held Saturday, June 8, 2019, from 1:30 to 8 p.m. at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Funeral Home, 4400 Bardstown Road, Louisville, Kentucky 40218. A memorial service to honor Cecil will be held at 5 p.m.  Sunday, June 9, 2019, at Fairdale Christian Church.
