Arlie Columbus "Roscoe" Smith

Arlie Columbus "Roscoe" Smith, 79, of Scottsburg, passed away on Monday, October 21, 2019 at Scott Memorial Hospital.

He was born on May 9, 1940 in Combs, Kentucky,the son of the late Arlie Clay Smith and Mary Jane (Pressnell) Smith-Coda.

Roscoe served in the military as a RCT (E-1) in the U.S. Army. After his military service, he attended Jeffersontown Vocational School in Jeffersontown, Kentucky. Roscoe retired in 1995 as a welder and painter for the old International Harvester, now known as Navistar International, where he worked for 25 year and was a proud member of the United Auto Workers Union. He attended the Free Gospel Fellowship Church in Pekin, loved music and was a talented singer, played the guitar, the harmonica and also enjoyed photography.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Harry James Smith and Sherman Coda and two sisters, Mary Belle Proffit and Maude D. Luc.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Dorothy J. (Turner) Smith; a son, David Brian Smith of Bloomngton a daughter, Elizabeth J. Griffin of Salem; a sister, Flossie L. Clark (Darrell) of Deep Gap, North Caroline; and two grandchildren, Katie Griffin and Damon Michael Hemingway.

Funeral services were held on Friday, October 25, at Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg with interment in the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Madison. Online condolences may be made at www.collinsfuneralhome.net.
