David W. “Bub” Schocke

 David W. “Bub” Schocke, 73, of Grand Island, Nebraska died Thursday, November 29, 2018 at his home surrounded by his children.  Memorial services will be Monday, December 3, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at Third City Church in Grand Island with Pastor Scott Jones officiating.  Visitation will be on Monday, December 3, from 9:30 a.m. until service time.

David Wallace was born on December 25, 1944 to Gail and Beatrice (Hannon) Schocke in Salem, Indiana.  Dave attended Pekin High School in Pekin, IN.  He later enlisted in the Army Reserves on September 29, 1966 and was discharged on October 7, 1970.  Dave married Barbara “Susie” Cheatham in November of 1967, and to this union two daughters were born.

Dave then married Brenda Sherd on March 28, 1987 in San Ramon, California. The couple made their home in Grand Island where they had their three children. Dave was the President of Custom Products for Chief Industries until his retirement.

Dave enjoyed spending his time fishing, watching football, and drinking lots of Folgers coffee.  He will be remembered for his cooking, singing and making up funny songs. Dave’s greatest love was spending time with his children and his grandchildren.

Those left to cherish his memory are his children; Jamie and Taylor Jones of Grand Island, Tina and Travis Hammeren of Grand Island, David Schocke of Studio City, CA, Tonya and Scott Nielsen of Stapleton, AL, and Cathy and Jeff Hurless of Frankfort, IN; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Gail and Beatrice.  Being the youngest of 9 children he was also preceded in death by his brothers; Mick, Dick, Cork, Tony, Barney, and Jerry; and his sisters, Peg, and Pat.
