Stewart F. Sears, 89, of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, October 31, 2018 at Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville, Indiana.
He was born on April 7, 1929 in Tipp City, Ohio, the son of the late Stewart C. Sears and Dorothy A. (Farlow) Sears. Stewart was a Deputy Sheriff for the Scott County Sheriff's Department for 10 years, the first Chief of Police of Scottsburg, Indiana, serving for 4 years and was the former owner and operator of the Razors Edge Barber Shop in Madison, Indiana. He was a member of the Scottsburg First Baptist Church, Scottsburgh Lodge #572 F & AM, Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis, Amick-Baker-Kellams Lodge #156 F.O.P. and the National Rifle Association.
Stewart was preceded in death by his wife, Donna G (Watson) Sears and a brother Eddie Sears.
Survivors include a son, Stewart W. "Bill" Sears of Jeffersonville, Indiana; a daughter, Stephanie Sears of Jasper, Indiana; a brother, Phil Sears of Reno, Nevada; a sister, Barbara Bilz (Bob) of Columbus, Indiana and four grandchildren.
Cremation services were entrusted to Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana and private burial was in Scottsburg Cemetery.
