Carl H. "Mickey" McMinoway, 90, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at his residence.
He was born on September 19, 1928 in Sellersburg, Indiana, the son of the late Albert C. McMinoway, Sr. and Wilhemina (Pementell) McMinoway. Mickey retired in 1985 from the old Colgate Palmolive Plant in Jeffersonville, Indiana , where he worked for 40 years. He was a member of the Underwood Baptist Church, served for 18 years as a volunteer Deputy for the Scott County Sheriff's Department and a member of the Indiana Sheriffs Association,
Mickey was a founding member of the Underwood Volunteer Fire Department, was very instrumental in the Underwood community getting city water service, was a member of the Henryville Masonic Lodge #651, Order of Eastern Star La Bell Chapter #419 and the FOP Auxiliary #99 in New Albany, Indiana.
Mickey was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Edna Mae Owens on Oct. 14, 1990; two brothers, Homer and Albert McMinoway, Jr. and a sister Alice Jane Bridges.
Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Joyce (Williams) Harbert-McMinoway; a daughter, Theresa Gardiner of St. Louis, Missouri; three stepsons, Ricky Schneider (Cathy) of Jeffersonville, Indiana, Roger Schneider (Rhonda) and James Harbert, Jr, all of New Albany, Indiana; a stepdaughter, Vickie Gustafson of Seminole, Flordia; two brothers Sam McMinoway (Joyce) and Arthur McMinoway (Velda) all of Henryville, Indiana; twelve grandchildren, Michelle Rogers (Marc), Shawn Gardiner, Shelly Milam (Jason), Heather Finn (Jeff), Crystal Durnell (Mark), Adam Schneider (Tiffinie), Justin Schneider (Carolyn) and Nicole Schneider, Cynthia Dunklau (Jon), Blake Harbert, Steve and Curt Schneider; numerous great grandchildren; a dear friend, Doris Finley of New Albany, Indiana and his faithful four legged friend, Jovie.
Funeral Service: 11:00 am Saturday, October 13, 2018 at Collins Funeral Home with Pastor Bart Smith officiating.
Visitation: 4 to 8 pm Friday and after 9 am Saturday at Collins Funeral Home. Interment will be in Scottsburg Cemetery.
