The Wall that Heals will arrive in Washington County May 16

The Wall That Heals volunteer orientation 

There will be an orientation at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, May 16, at the WCCF/Ivy Tech/YMCA Campus for all who have signed up to volunteer at The Wall That Heals.  The orientation will be led by the site manager for The Wall That Heals.  

At the orientation, volunteers will be given instruction on their duties and will be able to pick up their volunteer T-shirt to wear while working at The Wall. 

Those who are unable to attend the volunteer orientation will be given written guidance when they arrive for their shift at The Wall That Heals. 

T-shirts may be picked up on Monday, May 14, between noon and 6 p.m. or Tuesday, May 15, between noon and 6 p.m. If these times are not convenient, please call Judy or Lindsey at 812-883-7334 to make other arrangements. 

The Wall route

The Wall That Heals will make its way through Washington County beginning at 9 a.m. Wednesday. The procession with motorcycle escort will leave from John Jones Police Pursuit Vehicle Lot and travel approximately 15 miles per hour through the route. The route will be going past each of the county schools and around the square before assembly begins at the YMCA/Learning Center/Senior Citizens Complex. 

The wall will go first through Pekin, come back through Salem, travel to West Washington via State Road 60 West, returing to Salem via SR 56.

The Wall will be placed then at the YMCA.

Residents and businesses along the route are encouraged to decorate their business or yard in a patriotic manner or just wave to the procession as they go by.
