Pierce-Polk VFD gets equipment

Thanks to combined efforts by the Town of New Pekin, Pierce Township trustee and Polk Township trustee, half of the volunteer firemen on the Pierce-Polk Volunteer Fire Department have new turn-out gear.

The need was great and the cost, expensive. Jeff Miller, department chief, said, “The pants and coat are around $2,500.” The hat, air pack and other necessary equipment are all priced separately. “It adds up quickly,” he said.

The department is grateful to the trustees and the town for allocating money so they could purchase the much needed equipment,
