Overshiner wins sheriff bid in narrow race

Roy Overshiner will represent Republicans in the sheriff's race this fall. He will face Democrat Brent Miller, who won in landslide over Bill Denham.

Roy Overshiner has won the Republican bid in the race for county sheriff in a closely contested race. He ended with 1,138 to Wayne Blevins’ 1,127, a difference of just 11 votes.

In the race for county auditor, incumbent Randall Bills was ousted, losing the bid 914 to Kyra Stephenson, who got 1,883.

Preston Shell will not serve another term as county commissioner. He ended with 1,163 votes, bested by Todd Ewen’s 1,629.

In the race for county council district 1, voters Republican voters chose incumbent Ben Bowling by a commanding vote. He ended with 384 to Jason Cockerill’s 210 and Sabrina Burdine’s 138.
