Joyce Lea Lashbrooks-Underwood
Joyce Lea Lashbrooks-Underwood, aged 76, passed away on Monday, November 6, 2017, at PeaceHealth Sacred Heart medical Center at Riverbend in Springfield, Oregon. She was born February 5, 1941, in Orange County, Indiana, to Goldia and Lee Lashbrooks. Joyce was an active member of the Dubois County Daughters of the American Revolution and associate member of the Christopher Harrison Chapter in Washington County, Indiana. Her love of genealogy allowed her to connect with several family members, serve on several committees, and help host the Voyles family reunion.
She loved country music, especially Gene Watson and Conway Twitty. She enjoyed going to concerts and passed her love of music on to her children and grandchildren. She was also an avid reader. You rarely found her without a book in her hand.
Joyce was an excellent cook and “famous” for her rolls. She loved cooking for and entertaining her large family. She will be loved and missed by her children and their spouses; Dianna (Matt) Jackson, Coquille, OR, Butch (Heather) Royer, Crystal, IN, Rebecca (Jay) Hill, French Lick, IN, Carla (David) Pennington, French Lick, IN, Angie Royer, Coquille, OR, Tina (Matt) Pierce, French Lick, IN, Harry (Erica) Day, Scottsburg, IN, two daughter-in-law’s Christine Royer, Paoli, IN, and Tabitha Royer, French Lick, IN; 24 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Dale Lashbrooks, Salem, IN, Wayne Lashbrooks, Indianapolis, IN; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Her husband, Ken Underwood, grandson, Dexter Royer, two sons, Danny and Russell Royer, and brother, Freddie Lashbrooks, precede her in death.
At Joyce’s request, no services will be held.
