Kim Kiefer receives 2019 Mercy Award

Scott Memorial Health announces that Kim Kiefer, MT has been recognized as the hospital’s 2019 Mercy Award winner. The Mercy Award recognizes one employee from each of LifePoint Health’s hospitals who profoundly touches the lives of others and best represents the spirit and values on which the company was founded.

The Mercy Award is an annual recognition program established in 2001 to honor the life and contributions of Scott Mercy, LifePoint’s founding chairman and chief executive officer. The award is the highest honor a LifePoint employee can receive.

“At Scott Memorial Health, we share LifePoint’s commitment to Making Communities Healthier, and we recognize this is supported by the good work and service of our employees on and off the job,” said Martin Padgett, CEO of Scott Memorial Health. “We are extremely proud to recognize Kim for her efforts on behalf of our patients and our community. She goes above and beyond each and every day to ensure that every person she encounters receives the highest level of care and compassion.”

Kiefer’s contributions to the Laboratory Department at Scott Memorial Health has led to quality and safety improvements for the hospital. Her leadership aided in the Lab’s successful accreditation by The Joint Commission and State while also creating a positive environment where people want to work. She serves on the hospital’s High-5 Team and is known for the cakes she bakes for team members on their birthday.

Kiefer’s servant leadership is not only present in her daily work at Scott Memorial Health, but also in her volunteerism with the community. She is an active leader of the 4-H Youth Program and serves on the funeral meal team at her church.

“Kim is the kind of person you look forward to running into as you will leave the encounter feeling inspired,” says Lora Huckleberry, Kiefer’s co-worker. “She is the example of a dedicated employee and friend.”

Each hospital winner, including Kiefer, will be considered for LifePoint’s 2019 companywide Mercy Award. The companywide winner will be announced this summer and honored during a ceremony in Nashville, Tenn., in August, to which Kiefer and all hospital winners are invited to attend.
