July 4th Prince and Princess Contest seeking candidates

The Pekin Community Betterment Organization has announced the 2020 rules for this year’s Prince and Princess Contest. They are as follows:

1. All winners will be determined by a panel of judges.

2. Any boy or girl 4 to 6 years of age may enter.

3. Contestants can be from any locality.

4. An entry fee of $30 will be required for each contestant.

5. Contestants will decorate their own float and will ride in this vehicle or float for the parade. Contestants are responsible for their own transportation. Trophies will be given for the best decorated float. Floats will not be a factor in determining Prince or Princess. Floats may be trucks or cars and may be a vehicle pulling a SHORT trailer. People are NOT allowed to walk beside the floats for safety reasons

6. A prize of $25 will be given to the Prince and Princess plus a crown and trophy. First runner-up will receive a trophy and second runner-up will receive a trophy.

Each contestant must send in the following:

1. A photograph no smaller than 2”x3” and no larger than 4”x6” please, for use in the program book. Photo will NOT be returned.

2. A 3”x5” INDEX CARD with the following information: Name, age, parent’s names, child’s hobbies, school and sponsor name. The likes/hobbies should not be longer than 3 or 4 sentences.

3. Entry fee of $30 made out to The Pekin Betterment.

4. For the parade, all contestants must be in the East Washington Elementary School parking lot by 8:30 a.m. on July 4th. Floats/vehicles will be lined up in order of first come and will proceed through the parade route starting at 10 a.m.

5. The contestants must be behind the stage at 1 p.m. Contest is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
