IU Center for Rural Engagement offers "Hamiltunes," other arts series events

Thanks to the Indiana University Center for Rural Engagement, Hamilton fans can sing along with their favorite songs from the show during Saturday evening's Hamiltunes at the Salem Middle School auditorium at 7 p.m., but if you can't make that event, don't despair! There's more arts events coming this spring.

The film, Little Woods (2018, R) will show at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 19, at the Salem Public Library, followed by a discussion about Indiana's opioid epidemic.

This modern western tells the story of two sister, Ollie and Deb, who are driven to work outside the law in hopes to better their lives. However, after years of illicitly helping the struggling residents of a North Dakota oil boomtown access Canadian healthcare and medication, the authorities catch on and she tries to abandon her work, only to get stuck even more deeply to help her sister.

The film, Cold War (2018, R) will show at 7 p.m. on March 19, location to be announced.

Oscar nominee for Best Foreign Language Film, Best Director (Pawel Pawlikowski) and Best Cinematography (Lucasz Zal), Cold War is about a music director who falls in love with a singer and tries to convince her to leave communist Poland for France.

Amazing Grace (2018, not rated) will show at 7 p.m. on April 16, location to be announced.

Amazing Grace is a documentary showing Aretha Franklin with choir at the New Bethel Baptist Church in Watts, Los Angeles in January 1972.
