It was a great day for a clean-up in Pekin!

On Saturday, July 13th, five volunteers joined the South Fork-Blue River Watershed for a clean-up day in Pekin. The volunteers gathered at the Pekin Park for registration and donuts. Volunteers received safety tips from the Washington County Sheriff’s Department and were then dismissed to start cleaning up.
Volunteers worked in the park and surrounding roads in Pekin. After two hours, the volunteers gathered back at the park to collaborate and dispose of the trash that was collected.
The volunteers did a great job and collected 240 pounds of trash!
This clean-up was successful with the help of our sponsors and volunteers.
Sponsors included:
•Washington County Highway Department provided a dump truck to collect the trash.
•Washington County Landfill took the trash that was collected.
•Indiana State Highway Department provided safety vests for the volunteers.
•Washington County Sheriff’s Department provided volunteers with safety tips for the clean-up.
•Casey’s General Store donated donuts for breakfast.
•Silver Fox Café provided water and coffee for the volunteers.
•Sullivan Feed Mill donated trash bags.
•The Salem Leader helped advertise this event.
Thank you to everyone that helped make this event a success!
