Sauce, Joe, Selma and Rosco are waiting for you at the shelter!

Dogs

• “Penny,” the female, brindle pit mix, 1-2 years, is very social and happy and weighs about 40 to 45 pounds. Likes: comedic memoirs on audiobook, watching the Travel Channel, shows about ghost hunters. Dislikes: how the History Channel has more shows about aliens than actual history, when her toy gets stuck behind the couch, when she sneezes really hard and her ear goes inside out.

• “Junior” is a male, Lab-St. Bernard mix, less than a year old, surrendered with Bishop, about 50 pounds. Likes: peanuts, Chex mix, action movies. Dislikes: getting peanut butter stuck to the roof of his mouth, overcooked pasta, movies where the dog gets hurt.

• “Rocky” is a male, boxer mix, about 1 year old, around 50 pounds right now, but needs to fill out a bit more. Likes: Really tough chew bones in red or blue, but not green, apple cores, rolling in blankets until he’s a burrito. Dislikes: caramel sauce (sticky), hip hop music, being picked up off the ground.

• “Rod” is a male beagle-border collie mix. Surrendered because he and another dog were being kept outside and the owner did not want them to be outside in the cold any longer and her family situation would not allow her to bring them inside. They are currently warm at the shelter but really need an inside house. He hasn’t missed any meals and weighs about 45 pounds and stands about knee-high. Will chase cats and younger children make him nervous, so he would be best in a home with no children or children older than 10. Likes: comprehensive prison reforms, Rice Krispies treats, a warm living room couch. Dislikes: pickles, water crackers, westerns.

• "Bex" is a female Lab mix, under a year old. She came in with her sibling and pregnant mom. Her mother went to a rescue where she can have her puppies and "Bex" and her sister, "Luna" are looking for their forever homes. She's a little backwards right now but with coaxing, she walks OK on a leash. She and the rest of the dogs she was with were surrendered when their owner died. Likes: the 2016 Ghostbusters movie, World Cup-level soccer, making artisanal ketchup. Dislikes: owls, bedrooms that get too much light (bad for late sleeping), when she can't remember where she stored her toy.

• "Joe" is a male, black Lab mix, older dog with cataracts. He appears to be housebroken. Likes: large-print mystery novels, a good Broadway soundtrack, French fries. Dislikes: squirrels on his lawn, those fancy touchscreen cell phones, rutabagas.

• “Chance” is a male beagle mix, about 2 years old, about 35 pounds. Doesn’t seem to have problems with other dogs. Likes: romping, making friends, those little pumpkins the size of baseballs. Dislike: angry, barky dogs, moles, the rise of social media.

• “Rico” is a boxer-hound mix, about 50 pounds. Outgoing personality of a hound and very social. He’s OK with other dogs and his previous owner said he’s been around smaller dogs in the past. Likes: bodies of water (oceans, lakes, ponds, streams, creeks, your glass of water you left out within tongue’s reach), beef jerky, ska bands. Dislikes: sand, canned tuna, people who think “cups” are an instrument.

• “Rosco” is a male Aussie terrier mix, 2-3 years old, about 40 pounds. Loves to play and is good with other dogs. Likes: chewy toys, plushy toys, toys that belong to others. Dislikes: when playtime is over, footie pajamas, overcooked pasta.

• "Luna" is a female, Lab-Catahoula mix, under a year old. She came in with her sibling and pregnant mom. Her mother went to a rescue where she can have her puppies and "Luna" and her sister, "Bex" are looking for their forever homes. She's a little backwards right now but with coaxing, she walks OK on a leash. She and the rest of the dogs she was with were surrendered when their owner died. About 50 pounds. Likes: making paw-made beeswax candles, meandering in fields of wildflowers, listening to death metal while making shortbread cookies. Dislikes: doing the dishes, crocheted afghans, plastic straws.

• “Miss Bear” is an Aussie mix, 5 years old, spayed. Probably best as an only child, needs physical fencing as she chases cars, door darter, but good with kids and cats. If you would like an application for adoption, please email rockhaven83@gmail.com. Likes: freedom, wide-open spaces, catching cars. Dislikes: the conundrum of what to do with a car once she’s caught it, lack of anyone paying attention to her for the slightest moment, the smell of fish.

• “Marble” is a 2-year-old female Lab-pit mix, about 50 pounds. Housebroken. Surrendered because her mom is having some legal trouble. Likes: pancakes, bird statues, Impressionist art. Dislikes: chowder, pollen, phones with cords.

Cats

• "François" is a teenage tiger cat, recent immigrant. Likes: sitting on berets (do not try to make him wear one), hanging out at cafés, ordering vintage bordeaux and batting it off the table to the ground when it arrives. Dislikes: champagne that is not from Champagne, muffins, the English.

• "[Spaghetti] Sauce" is an orange tiger kitten with a beautiful coat. Likes: noodles, crusty bread, naps. Dislikes: tomatoes, garlic, low-carb diets.

• “Patty” and “Selma” are two female cats, black and white. Like: judging passersby, binge-watching How to Get Away with Murder, batting things off of tables. Dislike: opera, snobbery, when something is sitting where they want to be sitting.

• “Bandit” is a male, gray and white cat, currently in foster care, very sweet and social. Email rockhaven83@gmail.com for more information. Likes: fine impressionist art, watching videos of squirrels and birds on YouTube, stalking lint. Dislikes: car rides, insects, televised sports.

• “Citrus” is a female, orange, long-haired cat, 6 years old, front declawed. Likes: lounging, napping, Netflix. Dislikes: loud music, angry comics on Pandora, dust.

• “Vinnie” is a yellow and white, male cat, currently in foster care. His foster human says he’s sweet and loving and gets along well with other cats. If you would like to meet Vinnie, please email rockhaven83@gmail.com. Likes: stretching in the sun, wandering, rubbing on you and purring like a motorboat. Dislikes: the smell of another cat that doesn’t belong to him on your clothes, celery, rain.

• “Oreo” is a male, black and white cat. Likes: irony, salmon, Twitter. Dislikes: Oreos, tuna, Snapchat.

Adoption fees include rabies shot and normal cost of spay and neuter. Adoption cost for dogs is $80 and $50 for cats. The return-to-owner fee is $10, plus a $2 per-day board fee and proof of rabies shot or another $10.
