Leo, Oreo, Miss Bear and Darth Vader are all waiting for you at the shelter!

Dogs

• "Bishop" is a female, Lab-St. Bernard mix, less than a year old, surrendered because the owner had too many dogs. Shy and scared at the shelter. Likes: having her picture taken, going outside to play, staying inside to play. Dislikes: celery, hand sanitizer, raisins.

• "Penny," the female, brindle pit mix, 1-2 years, is very social and happy and weighs about 40 to 45 pounds. Likes: comedic memoirs on audiobook, watching the Travel Channel, shows about ghost hunters. Dislikes: how the History Channel has more shows about aliens than actual history, when her toy gets stuck behind the couch, when she sneezes really hard and her ear goes inside out.

• "Leo" is a male Lab mix, has a nigh-medical need for belly rubs. Surrendered because he and another dog were being kept outside and the owner did not want them to be outside in the cold any longer. Her family situation would not allow her to bring them inside. They are currently warm at the shelter but really need an inside house. Leo has the soft thick coat of some labs. He hasn't missed any meals and weighs about 45 pounds and stands about knee-high. Will chase cats and younger children make him nervous, so he would be best in a home with no children or children older than 10. Likes: bacon, French toast, fancy shoes (not to wear; just to look at). Dislikes: late meals, people who put shoes on dogs, those shoes with individual toes in them.

• "Junior" is a male, Lab-St. Bernard mix, less than a year old, surrendered with Bishop, about 50 pounds. Likes: peanuts, Chex mix, action movies. Dislikes: getting peanut butter stuck to the roof of his mouth, overcooked pasta, movies where the dog gets hurt.

• “Reese” is a female Dane mix, 1 year, about 55 pounds. Very sweet and will be a great dog. Currently in foster care learning obedience skills. If you would like an application, please email rockhaven83@gmail.com. Likes: room to run and play, learning new skills, antiquing. Dislikes: long lines, when couponers take all the sale items leaving none for people who only want one or two bottles of shampoo (then sell them on local for-sale Facebook pages), broccoli.

• “Rocky” is a male, boxer mix, about 1 year old, around 50 pounds right now, but needs to fill out a bit more. Likes: Really tough chew bones in red or blue, but not green, apple cores, rolling in blankets until he’s a burrito. Dislikes: caramel sauce (sticky), hip hop music, being picked up off the ground.

• "Dax" is a 2-year-old male Lab mix. Cute 3/4 tail and knows how to sit, drop and shake. About 60 pounds. Likes: competitive body building, wiggling along to music, interior decorating. Dislikes: "vintage" 1950's style furniture made last month and costing more than a whole house did in 1953, Snapchat, stale tortilla chips.

• "Mimi" is a female, Jack Russell Terrier, 7 years old, about 15 pounds. She was adopted and returned to the shelter because she didn't get along with the other dog in the home. She was originally brought to the shelter because she didn't get along with other dogs or cats, so it's fairly clear she would be best as an only child. Likes: one-on-one attention, a nice nap on the couch, her own pillow. Dislikes: sharing anything, sunflower seeds, thinking she got a roast beef sandwich and it's actually pastrami.

• "Grit" is a male, hound-shepherd mix, 5 years old, surrendered because he "was not a good guard dog." Shelter staff agree he is a lover, not a fighter. Likes: smelling the flowers, collecting pebbles, wagging his tail. Dislikes: arguments, shouty commercials, rap music.

• "Rod" is a male beagle-border collie mix. Surrendered because he and another dog were being kept outside and the owner did not want them to be outside in the cold any longer and her family situation would not allow her to bring them inside. They are currently warm at the shelter but really need an inside house. He hasn't missed any meals and weighs about 45 pounds and stands about knee-high. Will chase cats and younger children make him nervous, so he would be best in a home with no children or children older than 10. Likes: comprehensive prison reforms, Rice Krispies treats, a warm living room couch. Dislikes: pickles, water crackers, westerns.

• "Gabriel" is a male, shepherd mix, about 1 year, around 45 pounds. He's very sweet, but scared at the shelter, so he'd like a nice, calm forever home ASAP. Likes: Hallmark Channel movies, creamy tomato soup, croutons. Dislikes: bell peppers, stand-up comedy from the 50s, sheep.

• "Taz" is a male, pit mix, about 2. He's sweet, but he's also a climber, so needs physical fencing to keep him safely in his yard. Likes: birds, Loony Toons, freedom. Dislikes: racoons, flake cereal, crickets.

• “Miss Bear” is an Aussie mix, 5 years old, spayed. Probably best as an only child, needs physical fencing as she chases cars, door darter, but good with kids and cats. If you would like an application for adoption, please email rockhaven83@gmail.com. Likes: freedom, wide-open spaces, catching cars. Dislikes: the conundrum of what to do with a car once she’s caught it, lack of anyone paying attention to her for the slightest moment, the smell of fish.

• "Rico" is a boxer-hound mix, about 50 pounds. Outgoing personality of a hound and very social. He's OK with other dogs and his previous owner said he's been around smaller dogs in the past. Likes: bodies of water (oceans, lakes, ponds, streams, creeks, your glass of water you left out within tongue's reach), beef jerky, ska bands. Dislikes: sand, canned tuna, people who think "cups" are an instrument.

• "Rosco" is a male beagle-terrier mix, 2-3 years old, about 40 pounds. Loves to play and is good with other dogs. Likes: chewy toys, plushy toys, toys that belong to others. Dislikes: when playtime is over, footie pajamas, overcooked pasta.

• “Chance” is a male beagle mix, about 2 years old, about 35 pounds. He showed up at someone’s house, but their dogs didn’t like him, so they brought him to the shelter for a shot at a home where everyone did like him. Still, he doesn’t seem to have problems with other dogs. Likes: romping, making friends, those little pumpkins the size of baseballs. Dislike: angry, barky dogs, squirrels in his yard, the rise of social media.

• "Nova" is a pit mix. She lost her leg either due to a trap or it being shot off, but she gets around just fine on three. She's social with people and other dogs and is currently in foster care, but just wants a forever home. For an application to adopt her, please email rockhaven83@gmail.com. Likes: scampering, long rambles through the woods, wiggling. Dislikes: inhumane traps, mint anything, mushrooms.

• "Lolli" is a female pit mix, about 45 pounds. Sweet girl, surrendered with several other animals because the owner was losing their house. She has been around kids, cats and other dogs without any issues. Likes: Triscuits and cream cheese, chipmunks, cat/dog/kid snuggle piles. Dislikes: onions, Christmas tree ornaments that look like toys but are not toys, Chapstick.

• "Citrus" is a female, orange, long-haired cat, 6 years old, front declawed. Likes: lounging, napping, Netflix. Dislikes: loud music, angry comics on Pandora, dust.

• "Biggie Smalls" is a young, male orange tiger cat. He's currently in foster care and would prefer a quiet house with no other cats. Other cats make him nervous as he's never been around other cats. Turned into the shelter because he's a counter surfter. He's currently in foster care. If you would like an application or more information, email rockhaven83@gmail.com. Likes: Word Up! Magazine, sipping champagne when he's thirsty, watching his 50-inch screen on his money-green couch. Dislikes: gun violence, being told to get off the counter, a lack of ear scritchies.

• "Darth Vader" is a female, adult, black, long-haired cat. Loves to be held like a baby. Likes: trying to force choke her minions who displease her, macaroni and cheese, fire safety.
