First cases of COVID-19 in Washington County

The first confirmed case of a Washington County resident with COVID-19 has been confirmed by the Washington County Health Department.

According to a press release from County Health Nurse, Alicia Thompson, RN, PHN, the resident is currently hospitalized at Schneck Memorial Hospital. "The patient has a Scottsburg address but resides in Washington County. Washington County Health Department is working closely with the local and state officials along with Schneck Memorial and Scott County Health Department to ensure that contacts of the patient are identified and monitored and that all infection control protocols are being followed."

The second case of COVID-19 in Washington County was announced Monday morning. The second patient is at Baptist Health Floyd. No further information is being released regarding the patient due to privacy laws.
 
"Washington County Health Department is working closely with the local and state officials along with Baptist Floyd and Floyd County Health Department to ensure that contacts of the patient are identified and monitored and that all infection control protocols are being followed," read a press release.
