Crumble Cookie Company will be at OSD

If you are looking for a sweet treet while visiting this year’s Old Settlers Days, make sure to stop by the Crumble Cookie Company’s tent. The business makes both tasty and beautiful cookies and is owned by Washington County’s own Jennifer Stahl and her daughter, Katie.

Jennifer operates out of Campbellsburg, while Katie runs the business from Evansville. They started working on cookies in the fall of 2019. Jennifer said, “We spent the first several months trying out different recipes for cookies and royal icing. We went through a lot of recipes in that trial and error process, and we made hundreds of practice cookies while we were learning.” Jennifer’s students at West Washington High School were part of the taste testing trials. “My students loved it because they got to eat all of the practice designs,” she said.

The mother/daughter pair had always thrown around the idea of starting a business together. They played around with the cookies and the business took off and they were hooked.

“What’s special about our product is that we will work with customers to create custom sugar cookies that are perfect for their special occasion,” Jennifer explained. “We also offer special items like cookie kits and ‘paintable’ cookies, which people really enjoy.”

Jennifer is very proud of the decorating. “I can look back at our first designs and see so much growth since then. We’ve done a couple of cookie classes, which are a lot of fun, so my goal for the future would be to do more of those.” She and Katie hope to continue to hone their skills as the company grows.

Up to this point they have mostly accepted orders on their Facebook page, and they deliver locally and in Evansville. They are excited to be branching out to farmers’ markets and festivals like Old Settlers Days.

“This has been a great experience because it’s allowed us to spend more time together being creative,” Jennifer said. “We’ve met so many people, and it just means a lot that people want our cookies to be part of their special occasions.”
