CARE merging, getting new home

CARE Pregnancy Center of Salem is merging with a New Albany-based pregnancy help center, Choices Life Resource Center. The merger was approved by both boards of directors in unanimous votes.
The change means CARE’s board will dissolve. Carol Hickey will represent Salem on the Choices board.
The merger means CARE will be moving to a new, much larger, location.
Executive Director Donna Wesner said tentative plans are to move in the spring. The exact timing depends upon completing renovations to the new space.
CARE, which will be known as Choices Life Resource Center, will be located in the Harold Gilstrap Shopping Center, down from JayC and Tractor Supply.
The space is more than double what the center operates out of now and will allow for private consulations and counseling, a conference room, office space and a much larger baby boutique. CARE is also working with the Scottsburg Knights of Columbus, a Catholic men’s organization, to obtain an ultrasound machine for the center.
