For the second year in a row, the Kearschner family is holding a fundraiser in support of their daughter, Camryn. Camryn’s Crew to End NF 5K will be held Sept. 22 and will begin at Kearschner Family Dentistry on Jim Day Road.

The run/walk will be held to raise money for the research of Neurofibromatosis, a genetic condition that causes tumors to grow along nerves inside and outside of the body.

Jared and Jenny Kearschner learned about the disease when their daughter, Camryn, was diagnosed at the age of three.

“The worry and stress of what the future could hold was devastating,” she wrote in a letter to family and friends. “But I always had hope.”

Camryn is now 11 years old and will be a fifth grade student at Bradie Shrum Elementary School. She has three brain tumors and several tumors in her long bones. As of now, all are stable.

“I’ve realized in recent years that I have a responsibility to my daughter to spread awareness of NF,” said Jenny. “Camryn is an amazing little girl. She has a light and kindness about her; everyone who knows her, loves her!”

The goal of the 5K is to provide funds to Children’s Tumor Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to research and finding a cure for Neurofibromatosis and to provide a community event to raise awareness and allow individuals and families to participate in a  healthy activity.

The Kearschners are looking for sponsors for the event:

Blue Sponsors, which is $500, receive their logo/name on the race shirt and recognition at the beginning and end of the event.

Green Sponsors, which is $250, receive a smaller version of their logo/name on the race shirt and recognition at the event.

Activity Sponsors, which is $100, receive their names on the race shirt

Goods Sponsors are those who donate door prizes, food, water, etc.

For information on sponsorship, call 317-224-7360 or 812-883-4160.

Pre-registration for the event is open until Sept. 12 at noon. Registration may be done on Eventbrite.com or in person at Kearschner Family Dentistry. Those who pre-register by this date are guaranteed a T-shirt. The cost is $20 for pre-registration.

The price increases to $25 the day of the event and T-shirts are not guaranteed.

Children 12 and under may walk or run for free without a T-shirt and will not be eligible for door prizes.

Kearschner said last year, the 5K had more than 100 participants and raised just over $10,000.
