Airport officially opens

The official opening of the new City of Salem Airport opened Friday, Sept. 6. Andrew Maksymovitch, grant administrator for Butler, Fairman and Seufert engineering firm was on hand to hand out airplanes to the kids. Here he helps Ryker Sparkman, Maddox Sparkman and Kinley Sutton assemble their planes. The children are the grandchildren of Robert Woodward who was instrumental in getting the airport to where it is today. His widow, Sandy and 2 of their 3 daughters and grandchildren were honored with a plaque dedicating the terminal in Bob's name.
