Two women were flown by air ambulance to University of Louisville Hospital following a two-vehicle crash on Mulberry Street at the intersection of Bristol Street this morning.
Ashley Pierce, New Salisbury, and Sandra Woodward, Salem, were transported by helicopter to U of L. Another person, Mark Alcorn Jr., Palmyra, was treated at the scene, along with a another passenger in his vehicle.
Salem City Police said Alcorn told them he was eastbound on Mulberry, when he experienced a mechanical problem with his 2005 Chevy Malibu. This caused him to travel into the eastbound lane, striking a 2013 Ford Fusion head-on. Woodward was driving that vehicle.
The crash occurred just before 9 a.m. West Mulberry was closed for about an hour following.
