Nutrient Management Plan workshops Feb. 23

Washington County and NRCS, with support from the Washington County SWCD, will host two Nutrient Management Plan workshops for livestock producers on Friday, Feb. 23, at the Washington County Government Building (806 Martinsburg Rd., Salem).

The morning session will be from 8:30-11 a.m. with the afternoon session from 12:30-3:30 p.m. Both sessions will cover fertilizer application rules, example nutrient management plans and work time to create your own nutrient management plan that will put you into compliance with the New Fertilizer Rule that became effective in 2013.  The morning session will focus on non-poultry livestock species, while the afternoon will focus on chickens and turkeys, but anyone may attend either session.

If you have the following, please bring them with you to the workshop: soil tests, manure analysis, crop yields, aerial photos, thumb/jump drive and a calculator.  There is no cost to attend.  For more information or to RSVP contact Danielle Walker at 812-883-4601 by Tuesday, Feb. 20.
